March 30, 2004–In a small room, in a modern neighborhood not far from the historic center of St. Augustine, Florida an Industrial Engineer sits at his computer, diligently working on his latest project. It is not a factory layout or a product flow that captivates Joseph OSteens focused attention. For he has escaped not only his daily vocation but also this century, traveling into the past, to a time when men were made of iron and ships were made of wood.

The St. Augustine native is an Industrial Engineer for Northrop Grumman Corporation by day and a writer of Napoleonic War at Sea novels at night. Last year the little room in his home was transformed into his sea cabin to help inspire his writing. Sailing ships sit atop shelves surrounded by pirate figurines guarding a treasure chest full of booty. Flintlock pistols and various types of swords stand ready to repel borders or serve as a quick reference for some passage OSteen is writing. Charts, maps and nautical instruments adorn the walls to aide him in his navigation through his story line.

He calls working in his cabin, ???getting into the mood,?? and it seems to be working just fine. In 2003 OSteen published ???Falcons Revenge??, the first novel in his six book Nathan Beauchamp of the Royal Navy series. His cabin now has a space with book reviews and newspaper articles about his first book and his writing style. Thanks to Tallshipsbooks.com, Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble, his novels are read here and in six foreign countries. Joe believes you have to live your story to make it believable. The cabin provides him a stirring inspiration for British naval warfare that he wishes to share. He expresses his love of the genre by having a full British Naval Captains 1803 uniform made for him to wear at book signings and speaking engagements at local historic and civic events.

Joseph L OSteens appearances in March and April include Jacksonville Floridas TV 4 Sunday Morning Show and an April book signing at the St. Augustine Barnes and Noble book store. A portion of each sale of his book, Falcons Revenge, goes to support the St. Johns County Learn to Read Program.

Joes future sea adventures will continue to be inspired by his little cabin and starting with his next novel, Pursuit of Honor, the series will be published close to home by Jada Press of Jacksonville, Florida.br
